How to properly hold Badminton Rackets?

Update:11-10-2023
Properly holding a badminton racket is crucial for executing shots accurately and effectively. The grip you use will depend on the type of shot you intend to play. Here are the basic steps for holding a badminton racket correctly:
Dominant Hand Placement (Right Hand for Right-Handed Players, Left Hand for Left-Handed Players):
Hold the badminton racket handle with your dominant hand.
Place your hand on the handle so that your palm is facing the net and your fingers are pointing toward the shuttlecock.
Base Knuckle Alignment:
Position the base knuckle (the large joint at the base of your index finger) on the back surface of the handle.
Ensure that the base knuckle is aligned with the narrow side of the handle.
Fingers and Thumb Positioning:
Your fingers should wrap around the handle, forming a relaxed but firm grip.
The thumb should be positioned on the opposite side of your fingers, resting against the handle.
The thumb and fingers should create a V-shape with the V pointing toward the net.
Adjust Grip Size:
Make sure the grip size of the racket handle is suitable for your hand. A grip that is too small or too large can lead to discomfort and reduced control.
Non-Dominant Hand Placement (Left Hand for Right-Handed Players, Right Hand for Left-Handed Players):
If you are performing a forehand shot, your non-dominant hand (the hand that is not holding the racket) will be placed on the handle above your dominant hand.
For a backhand shot, your non-dominant hand may either remain on the handle above your dominant hand or move toward the middle of the handle for better control, depending on your preference.
Relaxed Grip Pressure:
Maintain a relaxed but firm grip on the handle. Squeezing the handle too tightly can limit wrist flexibility and reduce your ability to generate power and control.
Practice Both Forehand and Backhand Grips:
Badminton requires different grips for forehand and backhand shots. Practice switching between these grips to become proficient in various shot techniques.
Forehand Grip: The forehand grip is used for shots played on the same side as your dominant hand (e.g., for right-handed players, it's the right side of the body).
Backhand Grip: The backhand grip is used for shots played on the opposite side of your dominant hand (e.g., for right-handed players, it's the left side of the body).
Proper grip technique is fundamental to developing good badminton skills. It allows you to control the direction, power, and accuracy of your shots. As you gain experience and improve your game, you may need to fine-tune your grip to suit different types of shots and playing styles. Regular practice and coaching can help you master the art of gripping the badminton racket correctly.
